Disposal and recycling
Information on disposal and recycling
Old devices do not belong in household waste! Electrical old devices contain valuable resources that can be recovered and reused through recycling processes. However, they also contain hazardous substances that must not be released into the environment.
You are required to hand in your old electrical devices at an official collection point, for example at the local recycling or waste disposal center.
Meaning of the "crossed-out wheeled bin" symbol
The "crossed-out wheeled bin" on your electrical and electronic devices indicates that old devices must not be disposed of with household waste but must be collected separately. You will find the symbol either on the product itself, its packaging, or in the user manual.
Near the trash can symbol, you will find the designation of the respective hazardous substance. "Cd" stands for cadmium, "Hg" for mercury, and "Pb" for lead.
Batteries, accumulators and lamps
Batteries, accumulators, and lamps that are not permanently installed in devices should be removed and disposed of separately for safety reasons before handing in the old device. Please use the collection containers provided in our stores for the return of batteries, accumulators, and lamps. For lithium batteries, tape the battery terminals to avoid short circuits.
Privacy Notice
Old devices often contain sensitive personal data. This is especially true for devices of information and telecommunications technology such as computers and smartphones. Please note in your own interest that each end user is responsible for deleting the data on the old devices to be disposed of.
